Fresh Fried Fish and Good Life Church

This Saturday, March 31st, some great friends of ours are hosting a Fish Fry at the Wright’s Mill Subdivision Pool area at 5pm-7pm. Beth and I are praying that this will be an opportunity for many people to not only hear the vision that God is burning in our hearts and minds for the people of Bradenton/Sarasota, but also provide people with a chance to join us in the journey. My family is only about 9 weeks out from packing everything up and moving to Bradenton and we currently have received approx. 25% of our projected financial needs for the pre-launch stage of Good Life Church. Though we are moving in May we will not begin meeting weekly as a church until January of 2013. The 7 month gap will be used to connect with our community, establish our core, launch small groups, serve the community and begin partnering with existing ministries. It is also during this time when one-time start- up costs such as purchasing sound equipment, children’s ministry supplies, computers, and securing a facility for meeting will be required. So why are all these purchases important? It will be through that sound system that thousands will hear the Gospel and be led in worship. It will be those cribs that are purchased that babies will rest safely while their parents are provided freedom to worship without distraction. It will be that 4-square ball that will be used in our children’s area to build relationships between children and small group leaders in a safe and loving environment. It will be on the computers that I will spend time researching and preparing sermons while studying the Word and will enable words for songs to be displayed on screens so that people can exalt God corporately with other believers. It will be that facility that will provide a place for people to come weekly, celebrate what God has done, and be sent out to change their community. These funds will also provide me and the core team the opportunity to connect over coffee, lunches and dinners with people in our community. As I have been praying about all of these costs I have been reminded at how many times God has used a simple lunch to bring someone to faith in Christ, or save a marriage, or encourage a hurting person. Our initial 6 month pre-launch budget is $101,000. and we currently have received just under $25,000 through some very faithful people. God has been so amazing with providing these funds from various sources. Some have given large amounts and others small. Some have committed to give monthly and other have given a onetime gift. The journey of watching God provide has been an amazing faith builder. There are some nights when I wake up and I wonder how God is going to do it and there are other days when I am dancing in celebration over His provision.

I am looking forward to Saturday. If you are planning on coming and haven’t yet confirmed just reply to this.
