After an amazing first service on October 21st, life has continued at a hectic pace for the Smith family and the Good Life team. The week after the service Ryan and Ashley Farlow arrived in Sarasota as the newest members of the team. They were married in Mid October, packed up things in MS and headed to start their new lives in the city. It has been awesome to have them join us. Christina Rainey is working as a surgical tech and is making friends in the community. She has also taken up farming locally and spends a lot of her off time volunteering on the farm and building relationships with the people there. Abe is continuing to substitute teach at two different schools for work, while spending his off time building relationships and helping me with planning and logistics for our processes and upcoming services. Beth is working hard at BCS while juggling the responsibilities of being momma and wifey. She is doing awesome, just tired! Our kids are still blossoming in their new city. Rayna finished up volleyball and has started basketball (which practices almost everyday). Silas is finishing up fall baseball (2 games and a practice a week) and Josie is involved in gymnastics with only one practice a week. Needless to say, there is never a dull moment in the Smith home, or an empty laundry basket 🙂 I have spent the last few weeks following up with people who came to our first service, planning for our November and December previews, traveling to Miami for a meeting and a Canes game, and finally trading in our old Kia van for a little less old “new to us” Honda.
With a little more than a week to go until preview #2 on November 18th, there is still much to do. A team from TWO RIVERS CHURCH South Florida, is coming to serve at our preview as well as Scott Harrison, and his team from Midway Church in Pilot Point, TX will be leading worship. I am so pumped about my friends from both churches sacrificing of their time and resources to help serve the people of our city. Please pray for the 18th. I have gotten word that many of the those who came to the first service are returning and bringing friends. Pray that the service is a blessing to them, that Jesus is honored, and that we will build lasting relationships with everybody who comes.
This weekend the Good Life team will be serving Tara Elementary School at the Fall Festival. We are truly blessed to be in partnership with the families and staff of this amazing school.
Don’t forget to set your daily alarms to 1:28pm to pray for Good Life Church, the team, and the Bradenton and Sarasota communities.
“We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us.”
